Dr. Albert Schweitzer, whose expertise ranged from theology and music to philosophy and medicine, worked as a doctor in Africa for many years. In 1952, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarianism and contributions to the field of medicine. His influence remains strong today. The 150th anniversary of Schweitzer’s birth will be celebrated in 2025. To commemorate his ideals and spirit, Chunghwa Post has specially issued a NT$28 stamp. Its design features an image of Schweitzer. On its left side, there is a map of Africa along with images of his hospital in Lambaréné and of him attending to patients.
