As part of the series Taiwan Scenery inaugurated in 2016, Chunghwa Post has released a new set of stamps depicting four famous sites in Chiayi. The stamps are described below:1.Eryanping Trail: (NT$6): The entrance to the Trail lies beside Provincial Highway 18. The Trail, about 1,150 meters long, runs through bamboo forest, eye-catching cliffs, tea orchards and other varied sights affording views of the Chiayi-Tainan Plain, Renyitan Reservoir and Lantan Reservoir. On clear days you can see as far as the Dongshih and Budai outer harbor, while to the east lies the peaks of Jade Mountain Range, making the Trail a well-known shooting spot for photographers to capture the cascading clouds, the sea of clouds, and the setting sun.2.Taiping Suspension Bridge (NT$8): Taiping Suspension Bridge runs from Meishan’s Wangfeng Pavilion in Taiping Village, over Sanyuan Rainbow Waterfall, and ends at Guishan. At around 1,000 meters above sea level and with a span of 281 meters, it is Taiwan’s longest and highest-altitude scenic suspension bridge. It provides exhilarating views of the “Meishan 36 bends,” an overview of Chiayi scenery and a chance to enjoy the twilight, sunset and sea of clouds.3.Chiayi City Historical Relic Museum (NT$8): The Museum lies in Chiayi Park. Its two buildings—a fast house and an administrative office—affiliated to Chiayi Shrine built in 1943 in the Japanese colony. The fast house was used prior to making a sacrifice whilst the administrative office housed the administration. The site was classified as a municipal relic in 1988, and its wooden construction in Japanese academy style “Shoin-zukuri” displays intricate and exquisitely detailed hand-carvings.4.Lantan (NT$12): Lantan neighbors Shangziding, a hill located northeast of Chiayi City, and covers about 70 hectares, also known as the “Holland Lake.” The water there is clear enough to see right to the bottom, and hills are rolling on all its four sides. On misty moonlit nights, the enchanting scene of the lake could be poetic and picturesque, merits the title: Moonlight over Holland Lake. The hills behind the lake are rich in ecological resources and include one of the small Centuple Mountains: Holland Lake Hill. It is a famous scenic spot for hiking in Chiayi City.Personal greeting stamps without marginal inscriptions have been released along with the stamps, which feature a full set of “Taiwan Scenery Postage Stamps —Chiayi.” These customizable stamps are suited to collect. To purchase postage stamps, please go directly to the post office branches, Postal Museum or order on line at https://stamp.post.gov.tw.
