Description
As part of the series Taiwan Scenery inaugurated in 2016, Chunghwa Post has offered a special set of four stamps, dedicated to famous scenic spots in New Taipei City. The stamps are described below:
1. Zhulinshan Guanyin Temple (NT$6): The temple is located in Linkou District, New Taipei City. It honors a statue of the Eighteen-armed Guanyin. The structure features the Minnan architectural style with three halls fronted by seven doors and roofs sloping down on all four sides, creating a solemn, majestic and magnificent setting.
2. New Taipei City Art Museum (NT$8): The museum is located in Yingge District, New Taipei City. The outside walls are covered with tubes of varying lengths, symbolizing reeds swaying in the breeze. The museum combines urban artistic culture, ecology and local trades. It is the City’s primary public art museum.
3. Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf (NT$9): Located in New Taipei’s Tamsui, the wharf is a leisure and fishing harbor for over a hundred fishing boats moored at a floating jetty. The harbor entrance is spanned by Lovers’ Bridge. A 510-meter boardwalk takes sightseers out towards the setting sun.
4. Shifen Waterfall Park (NT$28): Located in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, the park has been shaped by erosion from the Keelung River, which has led to stepped layers and peculiar rock formations in the riverbed, resulting in interesting waterfalls. The most famous cascade waterfall is at Shifen, known as the Niagara Falls of Taiwan.
Personal greeting stamps without marginal inscriptions have been released along with the stamps, which feature a full set of “Taiwan Scenery Postage Stamps — New Taipei City.” These customizable stamps are suited to collect.
