Requisition:
The remitter must fill out a remittance form at a post office, and provide the form together with the remittance and remittance fee to a teller, who will make out a money order for the remitter to send by registered mail to the payee. The payee may redeem the money order at any online post office. The maximum value of anyone money order is NT$500,000.
Redemption:
When the payee is an individual: When the account of a money order is less than NT$10,000, the payee may perform redemption by signing or affixing his or her seal to the money order. If the money order exceeds NT$10,000, a copy must be made of the payee's national ID card. If another person is entrusted to perform redemption, the entrusted person's signature or seal impression will also be required; when the money order exceeds NT$10,000, a copy must be made of the entrusted person's national ID card.
When the payee is a company, business, or organization: Please apply the same seal as that of the payee on the back of the money order. Redemption can be performed after inspecting the national ID card and seal of the redeemer. If the payee's name is found through inspection to not be the payee's actual name, but is an alternative name, pseudonym, commonly-used name, or nickname, evidence that this refers to the principal must be provided as a basis for redemption.
Cancellation of remittance:
If a remitter wishes for some reason to cancel a remittance after purchasing a money order, he or she must bring the money order, remittance receipt, national ID card, and seal to the post office where the remittance was initiated to perform cancellation procedures. Remittance cancellation procedures are the same as for money order redemption.
Expiration:
Money orders can be redeemed within 3 years after their issuance date. If a money order has not been redeemed within 3 years, the payee will lose the right of redemption due to expiration, and this company will notify the remitter to take back the remittance.
Inquiries:
Remitters may bring their remittance receipt and national ID card to a post office to inquire whether a money order has been redeemed, date of redemption, the name of the redeemer, and check the payee' endorsement on the redemption slip within 6 months of the day the money order was made out.
Report of loss and redemption:
If a money order has been lost or stolen, the remitter or payee may bring their national ID card, seal, and original remittance receipt to a post office to perform loss reporting procedures. Money orders of less than NT$100,000 may be reported lost and redeemed at the same time, but money orders exceeding NT$100,000 may be redeemed only after a guarantor has been found and checked.
