I. Stamp Stockbooks

A stamp stockbook is one of the most basic tools. It is a temporary sorting and storing station for your stamps before mounting.

II. Stamp Tongs

Tongs are also essential for collectors. Use a pair of tongs, instead of your hands, so you won't damage stamps or soil them with perspiration.

III. Magnifying Glass

Stamps are miniature artworks of about a square inch in size into which designers have poured their creativity. It is therefore best for collectors to enjoy their designs, printing, and variations with a magnifying glass.

IV. Crystal Mounts

To protect your stamps from getting wet, creased or soiled, you should store them in your stamp albums, affixed by crystal mounts.

V. Stamp Albums

Stamp albums and stamp stockbooks are two different things. Stamp albums are where organized stamps go. They are used to store stamps that you have sorted into different specific subjects. Collectors can make notes about the stamps on the pages. They are the final destinations for your stamps.

VI. Stamp Catalogs

Stamp catalogs are fairly important reference books for collectors. A good stamp catalog should provide information about each stamp's issue date, print quantity, designer, manufacturing process, perforations, etc. The table of contents needs to be clear so collectors can easily find the information they need.
