FAQ

How should I transfer a certain amount from my postal passbook savings account to my giro account every month?

You can fill out a "Application for postal passbook savings account entrusted fixed monthly transfer withdrawals" for amounts up to NT$30,000, and the amounts will be transferred from your passbook account to your giro account on the 15th of each month. Please bring your national ID card, account passbook, original authorized seal, and giro statement to any online post office to obtain this service.

How to transfer of Postal savings account?

1.The depositor must open a new account in person and fill out a "Application for transfer of
Postal savings account " with the old account passbook and original authorized seal.

2.If the old account passbook or original authorized seal has been lost, or the password has
been forgotten, bring your national ID card and original authorized seal (or new seal if the
original seal has been lost) to apply for this service.

How to make deposits without my passbook?

1. Passbook savings deposits without passbooks allow depositors to perform deposits
in person at post offices without bringing their passbooks.
Use "No entry of passbook password": If a depositor cannot perform a deposit without a
passbook in person, and must entrust another person to perform the deposit, the entrusted
person must write his or her name and contact telephone number on the deposit slip
    (for those without passbooks).
If the amount of a deposit without a deposit exceeds NT$30,000 (inclusive), the depositor
is asked to present his or her ID document.

2. To meet individual needs, the depositor may apply to have his or her account designated
a "no deposit without passbook account."

How to close a passbook savings account

1. If the remaining balance of accounts is below or equal NT$60,000:
The account holder or his/her agent may visit any postal branch and request an account
closing, bearing a passbook and original authorized seal, and confirming his/her password.

2. If the remaining balance of accounts is above NT$60,000:
The account holder or his/her agent may visit any postal branch and request an account
closing, bearing a passbook and original authorized seal, and confirming his/her password.
If the account holder cannot visit in person, the account holder may authorize an agent
to act in his/her stead. The agent would be additionally requested to present valid photo
IDs(e.g. national ID or passport) of both the agent and account holder, along with a letter of
authorization, to be verified by this company.

3. If the passbook or seal is lost, or password forgotten, the depositor may visit any postal
branch in person, present valid photo ID(e.g. national ID or passport) and substitute the
seal with personal signature for an account closing. If the account holder cannot visit
in person, the account holder may authorize an agent to act in his/her stead. The agent
would be additionally requested to present valid photo IDs(e.g. national ID or passport)
of both the agent and account holder, along with a letter of authorization, and a new
authorized seal of the depositor, to be verified by this company.

4. If the account in question is a teacher account or Branch-limited account, account closing
may only be requested at the branch in which it was opened.

5. If the remaining balance of account is zero or below NT$50,000(including):
The account holder may perform account closing through our online banking platform via
the provided instructions. Once the account is closed, the remaining balance would be
transferred to another valid account you have opened at this company.

What are inheritance procedures for passbook savings?

1. When a depositor dies, all heirs must go to any post office bringing the national ID cards,
the deceased person's passbook (if the passbook has been lost, the heirs must fill out
a "postal passbook loss reporting re-issuance termination application form"), must fill out
a "postal savings depositor deposit inheritance application form," and must bring all
inheritance documents to perform inheritance procedures; however, the heirs must
perform the procedures at the post office where the account was opened if the deceased
depositor had opened an integrated savings CD or enjoy a teacher/civil service
    preferential savings account.

2. If the heirs cannot perform the procedures in person and must entrust another person
to apply on their behalf, apart from bringing the original of their national ID card
(or current household registration transcript), the agent must also bring any one of the
following documents, and the national ID card and seal of the entrusting (appointing)
   person(s):
   (1) Proof of the entrusted person's seal impression issued by a household registration
office within the most recent three months and a letter of authorization bearing the
         seal impression in verification.
   (2) The entrusted person must present a letter of authorization (appointment) from a
localembassy or representative office of the ROC or authorized attesting unit.
   (3) The entrusted person must present a letter of authorization notarized or certified
by a court or private notary public.

What documents must be prepared when performing inheritance of passbook savings?

You must submit the depositor's death certificate (not required if the household registration transcript already notes the date of death), proof of tax payment (exemption) (not required when inheriting less than NT$200,000), and full household registration transcripts of all legal heirs who can be confirmed that have been issued after the depositor's date of death and heirs' current household registration transcripts (including notes column).
All heirs must bring their national ID cards and seals when performing procedures in person; if any heirs cannot perform the procedures in person, they must submit proof of seal impression issued by a household registration office within the most recent 3 months and letter of authorization bearing the seal impression in verification, or authorized letter of appointment issued by a local embassy or representative office of the ROC, or letter of authorization notarized by a court or private notary public.
However, when the deposits are less than NT$30,000, it is only necessary for the heir's agent to present a household registration document sufficient to verify the heir's status (may be a household registration transcript with detailed annotations or new-type household identification book—limited to documents issued after the depositor's date of death), and the heir's agent must bring his or her own national ID card and seal when performing the procedures in person, and must note on the application form the affidavit "Other heirs' consent has already been obtained, authorizing me to represent the heirs in applying for and receiving the inherited amount."

Can I use a digital household registration transcript to perform business such as account opening? What is the validity of a digital household registration transcript?

Digital household registration transcripts are produced in accordance with the Electronic Signatures Act, and have equivalent validity to a paper household registration transcript issued by a household registration office only after verification. Because digital household registration transcripts may be provided for inspection for only 3 months, please bring a digital household registration transcript within the period of validity (explanation and regulations can be found in the explanatory notes below the digital household registration transcript's transcript checking number).

What documents should I have when replacing the passbook? Is a service fee required?

1.When wishing to replace an old-style passbook bearing "Branch-unlimited seal " on its
inner pages, please bring your passbook and original authorized seal to the post office
to perform replacement. If the passbook no longer has a "Branch-unlimited seal " field
on its inner pages, you only need to bring your passbook to the post office to perform
   replacement.

2. No service fee is charged for replacement if the passbook has been used to its final page
(page 7); if the passbook's inner pages have not yet been used to the final page, and the
depositor requests replacement on his or her own initiative, a service fee of NT$50 will
    be charged.

3. If a depositor wishes to replace an old-style passbook bearing "Branch-unlimited seal "
on its inner pages with a new-style passbook, no service fee shall be charged regardless
of whether the passbook is full of records to the final page.

4. Explanatory notes: When replacing an old-style passbook bearing "Branch-unlimited seal "
on its inner pages with a new-style passbook that has eliminated the "Branch-unlimited seal "
field, if the clarity of the seal impression image in this company's system is inadequate to
allow direct seal identification on the computer screen, the case shall be handled in
accordance with seal correction and replacement regulations (seal correction and
replacement: a depositor with a joint interbranch account must bring his or her national ID
card, original authorized seal, and passbook to any post office to perform procedures; if the
account holder does not have an interbranch account, he or she must bring the foregoing
documents to the post office where the account was opened to perform procedures).
